This studio looked at how folding surfaces can delight by shaping the mood of spaces while mediating unwanted heat and glare. How the folding surfaces can adapt to different circumstances such as daily weather, seasonal climate and occupant needs.
Through many physical models and experiments I tested how light hit and bounced on the surfaces. Each model responded differently to the context. Some screens I made admitted lots of light while other screens blocked almost everything out. In many of my alterations I explored the idea of light catchers and how that can be an alternative to direct sun. These screens were then brought into the computer to be refined / generated into new patterns. The last stage was to then create a screen sysrem based on earlier tests that could be attached on a window facade. In pairs we build a screen on a 1:2 scale and developed some drawings
